The Charles Bridge

Charles bridge is the most important sight seeing spot of Prague. It was made in 1357 by the king Charles IV on the Vltava river after much research and experimented with many building material including eggs in building the walls of the bridge .It took many years to complete the bridge and after it was made it was only way to connect the east and west Europe. This bridge is protected by three bridge towers on lesser Quarter and Old Town side .

The bridge is decorated by a continuous alley of 30 statues and statuaries, most of them baroque-style, erected around 1700.

It is one of the most busiest bridge of Prague by the heavy traffic.

This bridge has been damaged by floods but after repair in 1965 and 1978 it has been restricted for heavy vehicles .The sculptures on the bridge are that of saints ,the original ones have been placed in Prague museum and replica of sculptures are placed on the bridge presently.
